Evaluation

Evaluation

For my graphic narrative I decided to do a manga. My story was based off two characters. One of my characters was a magical rabbit and one was just a normal girl. The storyline was about the magical rabbit hurting their foot and not being able to transform back into a human. The girl finds the rabbit and nurses it back to health. The girl explains to the rabbit how she is lonely and lives alone. The rabbit then transforms into a human to grant the girl one wish, which is to stay with her. For my graphic narrative I hand drew it and used water colours to colour them in. My graphic narrative is linear as it starts and goes all the way to the end of the story showing the readers what is going to happen at the end.

My manga was aimed at kids and young teenagers so I used bright colours to attract them and had a child friendly storyline. I used a combination of text in the form of speech combined with images to illustrate what is happening. I also used thought bubbles to indicate that that rabbit boy cannot talk whilst he is in the form of a rabbit. The girl is seen in a school uniform to indicate that she is still a school student.

A few things I could have improved was my time management, as I did struggle to keep to deadlines. Another thing I could have improved was adding more backgrounds in my story as some of the panels were quite empty. Also I could have outlined the drawings to create a cleaner effect. The text was also in various different sizes so I think I could have typed the text up instead or use a different layout to make it seem more spacious.

Health and safety

Health and Safety
A few health and safety things that would be considered if produced in a studio. Would be lamps and light boxes. As when they’re used for a long period of time they will heat up. Therefore equipment should be turned off and allowed to cool before touching and they should be switched of after a certain amount of time.

Any paints and art supplies should not be ingested, inhaled or put near the eye as this can cause irritation and possible health issues. These supplies should be store safely in containers and transported in their original containers with lids on securely.

Considerations

My graphic narrative will be aimed at a young target audience, lie little kids and teenagers, between the ages 10-16. I will do this by using child friendly language and no swearing. I will also use cartoon like characters and make a friendly storyline that does not include violence and gore. I will use colourful colours to make it stand out more and capture the interest of younger audiences. I will make the story easy to understand and not too complex so younger people will be able to understand what is going on.
